Trial for the murder of a baby in San Nicolás

The Oral Criminal Court (TOC) number two of San Nicolás will begin tomorrow the technical trial in which a mother is charged with the alleged crime of her baby for throwing her in the trash, and the father of the minor for omission. According to reports, Yamila Cáceres will be sitting on the defendant's bench in front of the judges, and the hearings will take place over two days.

Justice is investigating the woman as the material author of the homicide and her boyfriend, the child's father, for supposed omission, considering that he could not have been unaware of the facts and did nothing to prevent them. The baby's body was found on the grounds of the Waste Plant on Friday, August 13, 2021, by a worker from the company Entre SA, and the autopsy determined that she died from asphyxia inside the vehicle.

The minor, between 48 and 72 hours old, was wrapped in a garment with the inscription "Christ loves you," which was given for free to needy people by a church in the city. Despite this indication, it was not possible to identify the person who received the clothing. The mother, 25 years old, went to a police station confessing that she had given birth and thrown the baby in the trash, arguing that she believed she was dead, which led to her detention.

The woman is under house arrest after spending several months in a prison in Junín, while the father remains free, as the judge dismissed the request for preventive detention presented by the prosecution. Initially, the man was dismissed, a decision that was revoked after the prosecutor's appeal.
